During the last weekend of July, we packed up the camper and the hounds (Wren, Carrie, and Symbra) and headed up to New York for the 2nd annual Grapehounds Wine Tour. We were joined by Deanna's sister Stephanie and her springer spaniel Molly for the weekend.
The Grapehounds Wine Tour is held on the Cayuga Wine Trail, which is a collection of about a dozen wineries along Route 89 west of Cayuga Lake, one of the Finger Lakes. We spent the weekend visiting the wineries, tasting the wines, checking out the greyhound vendors, and talking with other greyhound owners from around the region and the nation. There were a few events geared towards the greyhounds. They got to eat frozen yogurt on Saturday afternoon at one of the wineries and on Sunday morning. There was also a group walk along the Taughannock River up to Taughannock Falls, and many of the hounds got their feet wet in the river. Carrie and Symbra took a few strolls in the shallows, and Molly actually went for a little swim, but Wren wasn't interested.
It was an enjoyable weekend, and we came back with a few bottles of wine that Deanna liked (I was the designated driver, so I didn't do any tasting). All of the winery folks were very nice and accomodating.
