Like last year, the weather put a damper on the annual Greyhound Reach the Beach festival in Dewey Beach, Delaware. The strong winds and heavy rains on Friday forced organizers to take down the large tents that normally hosted the various vendors for safety reasons, so the vendors struggled to find alternative locations to set up while we and many others simply stayed indoors for most of the day.
The rain ended Saturday morning, so we headed out to Rehoboth Elementary School for the Canine Good Citizen testing. As expected, Tyler passed with flying colors. Deanna also put Wren through the tests. She completed all of them except for laying down on command, but the trainer said we could bring her back on Sunday to have her try that one test again. We drove up to Rehoboth Beach for lunch and visited the vendor tables at the local fire station. We didn't stay long because Tyler was favoring his back right leg and it was a bit cold with the wind. We returned to the hotel, where I stayed with the hounds while Deanna went shopping.
The sun finally broke out on Sunday. After getting photos taken of the hounds by the VisualWorks Studio folks, we met up with the Canine Good Citizen trainer and Wren successfully demonstrated that she would lay down on command. We then returned to Rehoboth Beach and hung out on the boardwalk for awhile. We ended the day back in Dewey Beach with a walk along the beach near our motel.
