On the last day of 2004, we got together with several other greyhound owners for a "fun run" on a baseball field in Owings Mills, MD. Fortunately, it was an unseasonably warm day, so the dogs didn't need their coats (and the humans didn't need to bundle up too much either).
Once all of the hounds were muzzled, we let them loose and off they went!
It was a typical run event, which means there were several short (30-75 second) group runs punctuated by rest breaks and smaller runs involving a few dogs.
The infield area was muddy, with the consistency of thick pudding, but that didn't stop the hounds from running right through it. A few hounds even thought the mud made for a nice place to rest...including Wren.
Fortunately, she didn't get TOO dirty, and later she actually lead a large pack of hounds in a run (she's usually more of a follower). Carrie and Tyler ran around as well, although after participating in a few runs, Tyler was more interested in playing with a tennis ball someone left on the field. Marcus was content to simply trot around the field.
